How Bone Broth Mini-Fasts De-Age Your Body

If you’re like me, your life is pretty challenging already—so I’m guessing that the idea of adding still another challenge doesn’t exactly thrill you. But let me ask you a question: Does the idea of slimming and de-aging your body thrill you? If so, then here’s the challenge I want you to consider: bone broth mini-fasts.

Before you say “forget it, Kellyann” and stop reading, let me tell you why.

First of all, bone broth mini-fasts aren’t anything like the grueling fasts that you’re used to. When you drink bone broth all day long during a mini-fast, it keeps your cravings at bay so you’re totally satisfied—even though you’re burning fat like crazy.

Second, in addition to jump-starting your weight loss, mini-fasting is one of the healthiest things you can do. In fact, fasting can lengthen your lifespan! Here are some of the reasons it’s so good for you.

• It lowers your insulin levels. High insulin levels can make you insulin resistant, meaning that insulin can’t ferry its cargo of glucose into your cells. And you know where that glucose winds up when your cells reject it? It’s stored as fat in your belly. That belly fat, in addition to being unattractive, is a factory for toxic chemicals.

When you fast, your levels of insulin plummet and your cells rapidly become more sensitive to it. This means that insulin can deliver its load of glucose and your body can burn it for energy instead of storing it as dangerous belly fat. As a result, you don’t just get slimmer—you get healthier and more energetic.

• It cleans your cells. When you fast, your body has time to remove toxins and tidy up your cellular matrix—the “sea” your cells swim in. As a result, your metabolism revs up and you look and feel younger.

• It’s anti-inflammatory. Researchers at Yale have discovered that fasting makes your body release a compound called BHB, which helps to inhibit inflammation—and we now know that inflammation is at the root of nearly every disease linked to aging, from diabetes and obesity to heart disease and cancer.

• It makes your levels of human growth hormone surge. During a 24-hour fast, HGH increases an average of 1,300 percent in women and nearly 2,000 percent in men. This hormone sculpts lean muscle, helps you burn fat faster, and promotes healthy skin.

So fasting makes you healthier from head to toe. And if the idea still makes you nervous, think about this: Your body is designed for it.

Here’s the deal. Back in the days of your early ancestors, there wasn’t a Walmart or Safeway right around the corner. If people wanted food, they had to hunt for it—and often, they came up empty. A feast-or-famine lifestyle was the norm, and the human body adapted to it by using the “down time” between meals for healing, cleansing, and rejuvenation. While that was a long time ago, your body works in exactly the same way now.

So do yourself a favor, and take my bone broth mini-fast challenge. If you need to lose weight, do two mini-fasts each week (and follow my Bone Broth Diet plan). If you’re at your goal weight already, do one or two mini-fasts each month. It’s much easier than you think—and your body will love you for it!
