My Five Favorite “Spa Day” Stress-Busters

Written by Dr. Kellyann Petrucci

As you know, I’m big on reducing stress. It’s an absolute must if you want to stay slim and wrinkle-free. And here’s one of my favorite ways to do it: By enjoying a home spa day!

When I’m in the mood for company, I invite three or four of my girlfriends over for an afternoon of face peels and manicures. We laugh, we relax, we gossip, we drink spa water (and okay, a glass or two of wine), and we go home rested and refreshed.

Sometimes, however, I just need a quiet day alone. At these times, I turn off the phone, ignore the doorbell, put on my favorite music, light some candles, and treat myself to my own personal spa day. A few hours later, I’m a brand-new woman.

It may not be as traditional as stress-relieving meditation or yoga, but I firmly believe that a home spa day is every bit as effective. Over time, I’ve collected my own little batch of spa products to make these special days extra-relaxing and fun. Here are five of my favorites:

The Spa Dr’s CLEAR Gentle Cleanser. This Gentle Cleanser is activated by water and removes make-up and impurities from the skin.

Naturopathica Pear Fig Polishing Enzyme Peel. I love, love, love how this firms my skin—and the luxurious natural scent is like aromatherapy.

illuMask Wrinkle Light Therapy Mask. LOL. Yes, it looks like something you’d wear on Halloween! But its LED lights nuke fine lines and can help reduce acne.

Clarisonic Mia 1 Facial Sonic Cleansing System.  I do a lot of TV these days, and that means heavy makeup. This is one of the most effective ways I’ve found to get my pores squeaky-clean.

SpaRitual TrueBond Manicure System. This is one of the best manicure sets I’ve ever found—and it’s free of DBP, toluene, camphor, and formaldehyde resin.

If you need to bust your own stress, treat yourself to a few of these personal home-spa goodies (or all of them). Then schedule a spa day, and for two or three hours, shut out the world and pamper yourself—and your friends, if you make it a spa party. It’s great fun—and when it comes to reducing your stress, it’s pure magic!
